Cooperation in 2008
Open day
The biggest event organized by Masaryk University within the frame of the project is the special Open day for the students of partner secondary schools. In 2008 it took place on Friday, November the 21st at 8 faculties of the University. Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Social Studies, Faculty of Sports Studies, Faculty of Economics and Administration, Faculty of Informatics and Faculty of Education introduced themselves and offered manifold programme to more than 1300 students.
Seminar for school counsellors in Šlapanice
A seminar for school counsellors, which took place in the University Centre Šlapanice for the second time this year, is a well-established part of the project. The theme of this year’s seminar was "Current challanges for secondary schools: state school-leaving exams and school education programme" and was attended by 37 counsellors. Counsellors had a chance to see how education programme works and discuss the state school-leaving exams with the deputy of Cermat society. Another issues covered by the seminar were the TSP and providing information about applying to MU.
Presentation of Masaryk University students at different secondary schools
Another well-established and traditional part of the project are the presentations of Masaryk University students. These students, usually coming from different faculties and often graduates from the schools visited, pass on the information about studying at Masaryk University, its structure, study fields and student life in Brno to their prospective colleagues.
Specialized lectures given by MU teachers at secondary schools
The Offer of the specialized lectures by the university lecturers has grown in size this year again, so that the university was able to offer to partner schools more than 300 lectures from all faculties, research facilities and study fields of Masaryk University.
Printed bulletin about Partnership in education
A bulletin summarizing the course of the Partnership project in 2008, will be published and distributed to secondary schools and faculties of the University during January 2009.
Expert consultation for students of partner secondary school
Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Science offered the opportunity to consult on problems researched as a part of secondary school expert activity and secondary school olympiades to the talented students of the partner schools.
Specialist events for talented students
Masaryk University and Faculty of Science enabled the selected talented students of partner secondary schools to take part in some of its specialized activities. Due to the highly personal character of these activities just a small number of partner students could participate.
Faculty of Science prepared "Physics days", "Chemistry Days" and "Biological Week" for talented students this year. Students accompanied by the University pedagogues visited specialized laboratories, got acquainted with the laboratory equipment and took part in the programme prepared.
Masaryk University participated in the third staging of the annual contest called "Circus of Physics", which took place on April the 25th at M. Kopernik observatory in Brno. The contest is open to all secondary school students interested in physics and mechanics.
Electronic Newsletter
Electronic newsletters containing the information about studying at, news about and interesting sides of Masaryk University, Open days dates and University activities focused on the general public were sent to the partner secondary schools in June, November and December 2008.
Presentation of Masaryk University on partner schools
Presentation of the university at the partner schools is also a part of the cooperation between MU and the secondary schools. The partner schools place information about the project Partnership in Education on their webpages. The schools pass the information about events organized as part of the project to their students by hanging up materials on their notice boards.

a list of all the secondary schools taking part in the project as well as
the links to their webpages and an overview of the recent cooperation.
Annual conference of the partner schools´ headmasters with the MU authorities
The closing event of the project this year took place on December the 11th 2008 within the baroque refectory connected to Mendel´s museum. The aim of the conference was to summarize the course of the cooperation between partner schools and MU to that date, to get the feedback from the partner school deputies and to discuss the various perspectives and problems pertaining to the main issue of the conference – the state school-leaving exams. MU was represented by Petr Fiala, the rector, Mikuláš Bek, the vice-rector for strategy and internal relations, vice-rector for information technologies, the researcher and coordinator of the project and others.
