Academic evaluations
The proper maintenance and development of the quality of education and academic life rank among Masaryk University’s core strategic priorities. The methodical administration of quality assurance mechanisms is currently managed by the
Academic Qualifications and Quality Office and the
Strategy Office.
Degree programme evaluation and assessment
The internal degree programme evaluation process is grounded in quality assurance. The process is designed to provide feedback on individual degree programmes including their adherence to pre-determined educational goals and degree programme viability.
The process was first launched at Masaryk University in 2008 and has gradually spread to all nine faculties. Evaluation currently consists of a four-year-long cycle for Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral degree programmes. The evaluation process is structured in such a way as to assess relevant aspects of individual degree programmes from several perspectives. The resulting self-evaluation report is then processed by external assessors. All participants subsequently meet for a final session in order to discuss the future development of the evaluated degree programmes. The outcomes of the internal evaluation are available for use by individual academic workers as well as by faculty and university management.
Methodological support of the internal degree programme evaluation process at Masaryk University is provided by Mgr. Kateřina Švestková, manager for education evaluation at the
Academic Qualifications and Quality Office.
Research evaluation
Masaryk University is currently preparing a research evaluation programme, which is designed to integrate current practices at individual faculties and experience gained at other universities (both in the Czech Republic and abroad), thus effectively contributing to a nationwide trend in the area of research. Research results are annually evaluated by the Research, Development and Innovation Council based on information submitted to the Information Register of R&D results.
Methodological support in this area is provided by Mgr. Eva Doležalová, manager for research evaluation at the
Academic Qualifications and Quality Office.
Surveys and polls
Quality assessment is carried out by means of student and graduate surveys and polls. Masaryk University periodically conducts several surveys aimed at a number of target groups:
Support in the survey and poll area is provided by the Masaryk University
Strategy Office.
