About us
The university is classified, according to the valid legal amendment, as a public university, that is, an autonomous research and educational institution. Its head is the rector, elected for a triennial period. The Academic Senate is the highest autonomous academic authority. Among other boards of MU are, for example, MU Scientific Board and the bursar; Board of Trustees complies with the fulfilment of public interest of MU. Deans are the heads of particular faculties; academic institutes are led by its directors.
Rector’s Office of MU forms an administrative department of the rector. The office administers data for the rector’s decision-making in particular. Moreover, administrative and economic issues are also part of Rector’s Office competence – issues concerning workplaces and institutions within the public sphere, unless the rector entrusts the head of these institutions (their directors) with the authority to negotiate independently in specified issues by the name of MU.
