Periodontal diseases are viewed today as multifactorial problems that are initiated and sustained by bacteria but significantly modified by the body's response to bacterial plaque. Recent study suggested that RAGE (receptor for advanced glycation end products) could be involved in the pathophysiology of periodontitis. The aim of this study was to investigate a possible association of three common polymorphisms in the RAGE gene with adult periodontitis.
