Fees for individual academic years

The Process of Assessing Study-related Fees at Masaryk University (Pursuant to Subsection 58 Articles 3 and 4 of the Higher Education Institutions Act)

The study prolongation fee and the additional degree fee are assessed by the faculty dean to students who meet legally stipulating conditions for another commenced six-month period. The written decision is issued no later than 30 days on establishing the fact that a student has come under obligation to pay fees for studies. The decision on assessment of fees is delivered in written form via Czech Post registered mail service on the address listed in the Masaryk University Information System. The dean's resolution comes to force upon expiration of the 30 days period starting from the day of delivery to the student, unless the student does not appeal for a review of the decision within this period. The fee is due no later than 90 days upon receipt of decision on its assessment.

Review of Decision on Assessment of Fees for Studies

Pursuant subsection 68 article 4 of the Higher Education Institutions Act, a student is entitled to request a review of the decision on assessment of fees for studies no later than 30 days upon its receipt. Missing the set period can only be excused in exceptional cases grounded in serious reasons. The dean is entitled to change or cancel the resolution in justified cases, if a conflict of the resolution with university provisions occurs. Provided that no conflict occurs, the dean passes the request to the Rector of Masaryk University. The Rector examines the dean's resolution again and from his authority may (pursuant subsection 58 article 8) decide to waive or reduce the fee, or postpone the term of payment thereof. When considering the student's request for waiving or reduction of the fee, her study results, social situation, health condition, taking part in international study exchange programmes or representing the university in sports are particularly taken into account. The request of a review is submitted to the office for studies at the respective faculty. All claims asserted by the student which cannot be verified in the Information System must be duly substantiated. The resolution of a review comes into force upon the day of delivery and no revision measures are permitted.
