Dates and details
Inorganic chemistry is one of the fundamental disciplines of chemistry. Modern inorganic chemistry is ever more becoming oriented towards synthesis and structural studies of substances with specific properties as they are required by industry, which leads rather often to practical applications of very reactive compounds sensitive to atmospheric humidity or to the presence of oxygen. Contemporary inorganic chemistry is far from being limited to work in aqueous medium. Rather, it is a discipline which uses liquefied gases or superacidic systems as solvents, thus becoming demanding in both experimental approach and instrumentation.
