On Monday, 3 May, the university traffic-light system will move to yellow

Masaryk University’s Crisis Committee decided that from 3 May onward, the university will move from red to yellow-light rating on its traffic-light system. Stay tuned for more information on this change.

All Masaryk University students, including international students, who will attend pratical classes or practical exams or live in the MU dormitories will have access to testing provided at MU testing centre situated at Brno Exhibition Centre.

Information for final-year students attending practical classes

Please follow the information provided by your faculties closely. The Czech Government has decided to permit the physical presence of final-year students in practical, laboratory, experimental and art classes and student placements effective from 26 April 2021.

Testing sites for employees to be open two days a week

Testing is still mandatory to enter MU buildings. Beginning 19 April 2021, the non-profit organization Helping Hands (Podané ruce) will be responsible for testing at MU and testing sites will be open two days a week. You can go for a test on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 7 am till 1 pm. You can register for a test in INET. Tests may not be more than seven day old.

Ministry of Education to allow in-class teaching for final-year students in practical classes within weeks, with mandatory testing

According to information from the Government of the Czech Republic and instructions from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, university students in their final year of study will be allowed to return to school within weeks.

Masaryk University is actively preparing to enable final-year students to attend practical classes in schools, which should be possible in the weeks following Easter, according to the latest information.

District lockdown continues until 11 April, but leisure activities are allowed within district

The Czech Government has lifted some of its restrictions: from Monday 22 March, the ban on leaving the municipal limits for leisure activities no longer applies. Consequently, people may go outside for a walk or exercise within their entire administrative district (Brno-město and Brno-venkov).

Mandatory COVID-19 testing also applies to MU employees

Following the measures imposed by the Czech Ministry of Health, physical presence at the workplace without a valid negative SARS-CoV-2 test result will be prohibited from Wednesday 17 March 2021. The test result must not be older than 7 days and all employees are required to submit to testing, except for the following persons:
a) employees working from home
b) people who have recovered from Covid-19 in the previous 90 days
c) people who have received full vaccination (two doses), where at least 14 days have passed since receiving the 2nd dose

The government strictly limits free movement between country districts, students are not allowed to leave Brno in next three weeks

Due to the worsening epidemic situation in the country, the Government of Czech Republic announced new restrictions that will be in place for three weeks. Starting Monday 1 March, people are not allowed to walk or jog outside the town/city where they live during the day, for students in Brno this means the Brno city limits.

As of Thursday 25 February, respirators or two surgical masks must be worn in shops, health care facilities, on public transport (and at stops), international airports, and service establishments such as post offices, banks, etc.
