MU still at red light rating, management calls for strict adherence to restrictions

A government ban on foreign visitors to the country has been in place since 30 January. This does not apply to students and workers.

Government has banned the entry of foreigners into the Czech Republic, it does not apply to students and workers

As of Saturday, 30 January, new measures are in force in the Czech Republic. The Government of the Czech Republic prohibits the stay of foreigners in the Czech Republic if they arrived in the Czech Republic for reasons other than commuting to work, work purposes, participation in education (including internships and examinations), visits to family and relatives, trips to medical and social services facilities etc.

Czech Republic moved to fifth risk level. The State of Emergency is extended until 22 January

On Tuesday 22 December, the Czech Parliament approved an extension of the State of Emergency until 22 January. The government has also decided to tighten the emergency measures taken in view of the transition to level 5 of the PES anti-epidemic system from Sunday 27 December.

On Monday the university traffic-light system will turn red

On Monday, 28 December 2020, Masaryk University will move from the yellow level to the stricter red level. Considering the fact that classes are not currently being held, this change will have only a minor impact on the university and its faculties and institutes. The MU Crisis Board and the Legal Office of the Rector's Office will continue to follow changes in government measures and will keep affected parties informed.

As of Friday 18 December, the Czech Republic will move from the third to the fourth level of the governmental anti-epidemic system PES. Although the Masaryk University traffic-light system remains at the yellow light risk rating, some government measures will affect MU operation.

The government extended the State of Emergency until 23 December

On Wednesday 10 December, the Czech Parliament approved an extension of the State of Emergency until 23 December. Without the Czech Parliament consent, the State of Emergency would end on Saturday 12 December.

On Monday, 7 December, the university traffic-light system will move to yellow. MU buildings will no longer be completely closed.

Final-year students allowed back to laboratory classes from Wednesday

From 25 November laboratory courses will be permitted for a maximum of 20 people. Each faculty will decide which in-person classes will reopen.

Following the new PES system presented by the Czech Government, the Czech Republic will move from the highest (five) level to the fourth level, which means that some restrictions will be eased.

Government has introduced new PES evaluation system that sets rules for relaxing or tightening anti-pandemic measures

The Ministry of Health will map the current epidemiological situation using the PES (DOG) anti-epidemic system risk score. The Czech regions will be assigned to five levels, on which the respective anti-epidemic measures will depend. The new evaluation system offers better legibility and predictability of epidemiological developments.
