Press Release and Interview with Norbert Werner
In the previous issue, we informed about the arrival of astrophysicist Norbert Werner at Masaryk University thanks to the MUNI Award in Science and Humanities (MASH) grant. One Hundred Percent Success in Selected Calls
The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR) recently published results of its two competitions - and our university succeeded with all submitted proposals.
We submitted two proposals to the 3rd public competition of the Théta programme and both succeeded (FI and FSS). Congratulations! Furthermore, TAČR announced the results of the 2nd public competition Environment for Life, where one project for each topic was selected. Thus, a total of 6 projects / consortia succeeded and MU is in two of them (SCI and ECON). All MU proposals therefore succeeded. Congratulations!

Open Calls
TA CR – "Prostředí pro život" (Environment for Life)
- The competition period of the 3rd public tender runs from May 21st to July 22nd.

TA CR – DELTA 2
- On May 13th, the 2nd Call has been announced in the DELTA 2 programme. The programme focuses on international cooperation in applied research.

TA CR – Positive Energy District (Cofund Call - only for Théta investigators)
- On April 20th, the 1st Call has been announced in the PED programme. The programme focuses on international cooperation and networking.

GA CR – LA grants CEUS (international projects evaluated on the Lead agency principle, with GA CR in the role of Partner organization), ongoing FWF Call – cooperation with Austria
- On February 22nd, the LA grants CEUS Call 2021 has been announced. The Call aims to support international cooperation in basic research and is opened to applicants at any stage of their career.

GA CR – Urgent Funding SARS-COV-2
- On April 6th, the Urgent Funding SARS-COV-2 has been announced. The Call aims at international cooperation with a direct reference to the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

TACR - "Doprava 2020+" (Traffic 2020+)
On June 15th, the competition deadline for the acceptance of project proposals for the 2nd public tender of the Doprava 2020+ program was completed. A total of 2 project proposals were submitted for MU.
TACR - Eta COVID-19
On June 15th, the competition deadline for the acceptance of project proposals for the 4th public tender of the Éta program focused on COVID-19 was completed. A total of 26 project proposals were submitted for MU.
Ministry of Agriculture - NAZV - "Země" (The Earth)
On June 17th, the competition deadline for accepting project proposals for the 4th public tender of the "Země" program ended. A total of 11 project proposals were submitted on behalf of MU.
Ministry of the Interior - Security Research
On June 12th, the competition deadline for accepting project proposals for the 4th public tender of the Security Research Program ended. A total of 3 project proposals were submitted for MU.
TA CR – M-ERA.NET (ERA-NET Co-fund)
The submission for proposals of M-ERA.NET Call was closed. MU submitted 1 project proposal. The results of this international Call will be announced in January 2021.

Voltaire Prize 2021
Nominate a young researcher for the Voltaire Prize, worth €5,000, which is awarded for the scientific debate on the topics of international understanding, tolerance and respect for difference. More information here or here. The nominations must be submitted in German or English by October 7, 2020.
