The project focuses on digital technologies in everyday lives and learning of students, across a variety of contexts and environments. It is based on a mixed methods research design, split into two phases:
1) In the first phase, data acquired through the PISA 2015 international research questionnaire distributed to students and schools will be subjected to secondary analysis. We will be searching for correlations between variables concerning ICT use in school and outside school, frequency of their use, family backgrounds and student characteristics.
2) The results of the secondary analysis will be used by focus groups and case studies, thanks to which we will get a detailed understanding of everyday lives of students, focusing on what roles ICT play in their formal and informal learning, how family, peers and school impact the use of ICT and what role activities in the virtual environment are playing in students’ everyday lives. The results of the research will be grounded in a theoretical framework built around new literacies studies and sociocultural theory of learning.
