| Description | Testaments or inventories make it possible to study a social, economical, culture or religious history in the milieu of citizens. All these things represent the context of artistic activities in towns. Beside this some art commissions (altars, sculptures, tombstones…) or modifications of churches etc are also sometimes documented in the testaments. In the 16th century it is also necessary to study changes of religious establishment in the towns and their impact on the art commissions. The paper demonstrated by specific examples of the testaments from Slavonice and Telč the possibilities of use of this sort of historical evidence in art history. |
