Description This paper aims to examine the position of the Senate of the Parliament in the political system of the Czech Republic by using quantitative tools. The author comes up with a theoretical justification for existence of the Czech upper chamber of the Parliament based on application of the theories of the upper chambers in Czech conditions. A performance of the role by which the existence of the Senate is actually legitimized is then examined using the above-mentioned quantitative analysis.
