Description | The aim of this study was to explore and describe the relationships between the levels of gratitude, hope and grit in two generations - parents and their children. The research sample consisted of 219 respondents, in total of 73 family triads (mother, father, child). Data collection was carried out in 2018-2019 using questionnaires. Results suggests that the sample of children showed a significantly higher level of gratitude and a lower level of hope than their parents. There was also a significant correlation between the levels of observed characteristics in the groups of mothers, fathers and children. Significant correlations were found between the level of psychological well-being and hope in mothers and fathers. A higher level of hope in fathers was associated with a higher level of hope in children, and a similar relationship was found between the level of gratitude in mothers and children. The revealed intergenerational transmission of gratitude and well-being agrees with previous studies on intergenerational transmission. |
