Description | From the most deforested part of the Ždánické les Mts. the Štinkovka flows south to the rown Hustopeče. It is born in a channel dug by ancient farmers in the wide valley floor of Vlčí dolina. In the early 1950s, fishermen joined the winemakers. In a short time, parts of the valley floor of two ponds were flooded. However, persistent severe soil erosion on the surrounding land led to extreme silting of both ponds, which was repeatedly compounded by seasonal water shortages. The Hustopeče creek flows in an artificial underground. Below Hustopeče, there is practically nothing left of the once numerous and large ponds. At the lower Novomlýnská reservoir, another 3 km of extended artificial riverbed towards Strachotín serves the creek. |
