| Description | In this article I argue against Peregrin's suggestion to conceive syntax as a science about which signs we use and semantics as a science about how these signs we use. In fact this distinction is identical Carnap's definition of descriptive syntax and descriptive semantics, which are sciences based on pragmatics. Then I show Carnap's definitions of pure syntax and pure semantics which are used as common definitions of syntax and semantics. |
