The Dean of the Faculty of Sports Studies of Masaryk University announces a selection procedure for an academic position 

Head of the University Sports Centre

 

The Faculty of Sports Studies of Masaryk University is one of the smaller, progressively developing faculties of Masaryk University. Its mission is to contribute to a physically active and healthy life for all age and performance groups of the population and to develop knowledge in the field of sport and physical activity. The faculty is located on a modern university campus in Brno-Bohunice. 

We are looking for a mature individual who is not only a sports enthusiast but also an experienced leader to join the University Sports Centre. The leader and a team of lecturers will actively teach general physical education to Masaryk University students and shape its direction. We will use your managerial and pedagogical experience to prepare other physical activities intended not only for students, but for university employees and the general public as well. 

 

Job description:  

  • Ensuring the proper running of the department and its development in line with the strategic plan of the Faculty and the University
  • Responsibility for the teaching and research activities of the department and the achievement of the required outputs and results  
  • Responsibility for the performance of the so-called third role of the University
  • Personnel management of the department
  • Responsibility for the money management of the department (in cooperation with the Faculty Bursar)
  • Support for the development of scientific research activities
  • Close collaboration with the management of the Department of Physical Education and Social Sciences and the Faculty management 
  • Own pedagogical and scientific research activities

 

Skills and qualifications required for the job include:

  • Experience in managing a work team
  • Relevant previous teaching experience
  • Experience in sports management and marketing, including the organization of sports competitions
  • Excellent knowledge of the Czech language
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language (at least B2 level)
  • High work commitment, orientation towards achieving goals, and evaluating the effectiveness of activities
  • Excellent organizational, managerial, and communication skills
  • A proactive approach and a willingness to further training and self-development
  • Moral integrity

  • Two references (contacts of persons whom a member of the selection committee may contact to ask about your previous work, experience and skills) 
  • A proposal for a three-year concept for the development of the department, indicating the activities envisaged in the first year of management in a maximum of 2 A4 (available sources: the faculty's strategic plan).
