Popis | This case study presents the results of a qualitative survey amongst organic meat consumers. Their ideas about and attitudes towards animal welfare were investigated together with their purchase preferences and behaviour. The authors focused their study on a group of consumers purchasing organic lamb meat from traditional sheep breeding in the south-east region of the Czech Republic. The research deals with the characteristics of specific organic animal products, consumer willingness to pay, and awareness of animal welfare. The results of interviews suggest that a conscious concern about animal welfare is not the primary incentive for purchase. A consumer typology based on their expressed attitudes towards welfare and purchasing behaviour is presented. |
