Popis Youths in the 21st century are raised in a digital world where blogs, social networking sites, and instant messaging are part of their everyday life. These youths have been immersed in a digital world for as long as they can remember. As a result of this immersion, youths are at risk for cyberbullying, which has increased in intensity over the years. Cyberbullying has become a major focus of not only youths, educators, and researchers, but also among the general population, due to high profile cases of cyberbullying victimization involving suicide. This chapter drew on literature utilizing cross-sectional, longitudinal, qualitative, and quantitative research methodologies to describe cyberbullying. The chapter provided an overview of cyberbullying, including the tools, technologies, and forms, along with the prevalence rates, correlates, and the emotional and behavioral consequences. Also discussed are the cultural differences in these behaviors, and theoretical underpinnings. The chapter concluded with recommendations for future research and public policy.
