Popis | Standard Dutch has three varieties - the Northern Dutch, the Southern Dutch and Surinamese- Dutch . Each variety has its own character and history. In this article the question is asked which of the two varieties spoken in the Low Countries is the most efficient for the Czech students of Dutch and more specifically which of two spoken varieties should gain preference. Different language levels, such as morphology, syntax, etc. are not considered here . This contribution forms also a chapter of the dissertation research on the pronunciation of Dutch by Czech speakers. The the explanation of the language situation and language history in the Low Countries is therefore for the Czech context extensive. The history of the development of the Standard language is outlined and the varieties are described that exist in the contemporary Low Countries. The varieties the students come to contact with are described as well. The differencies between the two Standards especially in the phonetic level are summarized In this contribution it is also argued which variety is the most practical for the students with a view to the future use of Dutch in practice. |
