Popis | The 2014 presidential elections in Slovakia, held on March 15 and 29, produced an unexpected result: millionaire-turned-philanthropist Andrej Kiska convincingly defeated the incumbent Prime Minister Robert Fico in a runoff election and became the fourth president since Slovakia's independence in 1993. Kiska, who had not held any elected office before, ran as an independent candidate with no ties to political parties. |
