Popis | Introduction The saying “publish or perish” (i.e. publish your research or risk losing your job) does not only remind academics of the extreme importance of publishing. Despite its cynical nature, the statement applies to many of us. At the same time, it is necessary to have adequate tools in order to publish. Such tools do not only involve patients’ datasets but they should also enable quick and reliable access – a database that will allow us to get a quick overview of different groups of patients and access data about patients. The authors introduce a web-based database i-hojení.cz which is at the moment in Czech but will from the autumn also have an English version. Description of the system It is a system for collecting and analysing clinical and economic data with basic functions of medical intelligence. It enables evaluation and further use as an argumentation tool for the economic department of hospitals. It is useful for effective control of the treatment, for sharing specific case information by specialists involved in a project and for the presentation of results. The database is intended for these main specialist areas: surgery, traumatology, cardiology, burns units, plastic surgeons but also others who are involved in wound healing. The system’s main benefits: safety (the same level as banking systems), visual difference from corporate ID, variability of medical criteria settings, ease of use, high variability of connection options (internet access), optimization for mobile devices. The system allows the incorporation of NPWT in clinical standards, statistical data evaluation and use of the results as a prevention of contraindications, argumentation and evidence for health insurance companies and for government health officials. Conclusion This user friendly database is a secure web-based system that will help not only with securing publications but it also supports medical intelligence functions: basic clinical decisions and process and economic determinations. |
