Popis | The paper deals with the issue of religious, ethnic and sexual communities in Brno. Christians and Jews were chosen as the religion-based communities, Moravians/Moravists, Vietnamese, Ukrainians and Russians as the ethnic communities, and the LGBT people (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people) as a sexual community. The text aims to identify the above-mentioned communities in Brno and also characterise the spatial aspects of their everyday life. During the research, quantitative and qualitative methods have been combined: quantitative analysis of spatial and statistical data, field observation, analysis of media content and performing of semi-structured interviews. Among the main findings, the surveyed communities are relatively inconspicuous and reserved to the outside world; each of communities coexists with other communities without stronger assimilation. Some of the communities are spatially concentrated in Brno, especially in connection with objects and buildings associated with them (religious buildings, restaurants and other leisure time facilities). |
