Popis | Overtraining syndrome (OST) is sport issue that has been requiring attention during the last few years. Its prevalence is considerable. The main aim of the current study is to investigate how the overtraining level changes according to the different phases of the season, and whether psychological intervention (mindfulness, PST) could affect this trend. Many studies considering the relationship between mindfulness and OST can be found. Less is known about the effects of psychological skills training. For this purpose, the single-case research method was chosen, specifically a multiple baseline across participants design. The level of overtraining will be determined by measuring sleep quality, mood variance and heart rate variability. Our study investigates adolescent elite swimmers. Swimming is considered a ‘high-intensity sport‘, which is characterized by an increased probability of OTS incidence. A possible application of the results of the study resides especially in better understanding of OST genesis, following by an improvement of prevention of OST. A detailed description of the research plan and the results of the first participants will be presented at the conference. |
