| Popis | The aim of the present study was to outline the terms and changes regarding the essential oils appearing in the Hungarian Pharmacopoeias (Ph. Hg. I – Ph. Hg. VIII.). In addition, the objective outlines their references in Latin, highlighting both terminology and grammar. Changes can be observed throughout the eight editions examined from a Latin point of view, in particular, regarding grammar. The term oil/essential oil depicts a change in each Latin description; it is possible to trace how the oil becomes an essential oil (e.g. Oleum Lavandulae; Oleum lavandulae; Aetheroleum lavandulae; Lavandulae aetheroleum). Emphasis should be placed on the description and evolution of drugs with possessive structures up to the Ph. Hg. VIII., and in the form of expression regarding its essential oils. |
