Popis | Propafenone, a class I antiarrhythmic agent, inhibits several membrane currents, however, its effect on ATP-sensitive potassium current (IKATP) of cerdiac cells have not been tested. We evaluated the blocking effect of 0.1 to 100 uM propafenone on the whole cell IKATP as triggered by dinitrophenol in aduld rabbit isolated atrial and ventricular cardiomyocytes. It is concluded that propafenone blocks cardiac IKATP at a single site. This block might play a role in the beneficial and adverse effects of the drug. |
