Popis Fellomyces fuzhouenesis reproduces by conidiogenesis. Mother cell produces a thin tubular sterigma, at the end of which an asexual conidium differentiates. F-actin was detected by rhodamine-phalloidin, microtubules by indirect immunofluorescence and ultrastructure by electron microscopy. F-actin structures and microtubules were similar to those in Cryptococcus neoformans. Cytoskeleton was involved in all stages. i) Cylindrical sterigma had actin patches at the apex, and longitudinal actin cables and microtubules inside. ii) Development of conidium reminded the cytoskeleton of budding yeast. iii) Essential features were nuclear elongation in the sterigma, and excentric cytokinesis, after which retraction of the cytoplasm from sterigma to mother occurred. Conidium and mother separated by wall material, conidium broke off the end of sterigma, filled by wall material, while empty sterigma remained on mother. The research was supported by grant No. 310/03/1195 of the Grant Agency of Czech Republic.
