Popis | Basidiomycetous lipophilic yeast M. pachydermatis was studied by indirect immunofluorescence to identify microtubules. Due to a thick compact cell wall, we applied lytical enzymes, detergents and fluorescent antibodies at higher concentrations for a longer time. The visualization of microtubules was complicated by small size of cells and their mutual agglutination. Cytoplasmatic microtubules were successfully documented and their changes during interphase described. The course of a nuclear division is not known yet. The genus of Malassezia yeasts has an important position in a human and veterinary medicine because the yeasts can cause different diseases, from skin mycoses to sepsis. Their cytoskeleton system can be a one of the therapeutic targets for therapy of the diseases that were caused by the yeasts of the genus Malassezia. We present first evidence for the cytoplasmatic microtubules in Malassezia pachydermatis. This work is supported by grants GAČR 310/00/0391 and GAČR 310/03/1195. |
