Popis | The aim of the study was to find optimal indication for sentinel node detection in lung cancer surgery and to verify the results of previous studies. We have used the method with the blue dye staining (5 ml Sulphanum cerulaeum into peritumoral tissues). The early staining node or group of lymph nodes have been referred as the sentinel node. After the lung resection the systematical mediastinal lymphadenectomy was performed. The group of 31 patients with NSCLC consisted of 25 men and 6 women with a mean age 71,8 years. There were 7 true positive sentinel nodes containing metastases but also 5 false negative sentinel nodes. In these preliminary results we did not confirm the high sensitivity of the sentinel node in the detection of tumor containing lymph nodes. Mediastinal lymphadenectomy remains the gold standard in lung cancer surgery including early stage NSCLC. |
