Popis | We explore connections between preferences for certain types of square mosaics and personality measures. A total of 70 respondents participated in our research, 35 men and 35 women, mostly students of Faculty of Social Studies and Faculty of Informatics. They fill us NEO-FFI personality questionnaire, Seligman test of Optimism and Consciousness extent scale from TE-ZA-DO questionnaire. We also ask them about using of marijuana. Respondents measure their aesthetic response for 90 mosaics showed them for 8 seconds each. Mosaics were measured by their symmetry, contrast, entropy and Life (Klinger, Salingaros, 2000). We showed Life is very good measure of aesthetic value of mosaic – correlation was 0.41. Older people give large aethetic value to mosaics with low contrast and Life and without symetry then younger people – we thought this is because of matured aesthetic sense. Women gives larger value to mosaics without symmetry and men to mosaics with vertical symmetry. Marijuana smokers gives larger value to mosaics with low contrast and smaller value to mosaics with high contrast then non-smokers. People with larger extent of consciousness give smaller value to mosaics with some symmetry. Higher scorers in Neuroticism prefers smaller contrast in mosaics and higher scorers in Agreeableness prefers smaller Life and smaller symmetry. |
