Popis | Laparoscopic appendectomy for appendicitis in its late stage with advanced generalised peritonitis does not show increased occurrence of early or late postoperative complications compared to classic laparotomic appendectomy. A null hypothesis expecting no differences was successfully confirmed using a statistical significance level. On the contrary, traditional open appendectomy is accompanied by more late complications, such as bowel adhesions. Based on this study, we can recommend laparoscopy as adequate for appendectomy also in its late stage with inflammation extending into the peritoneum. |
