We are looking for a postdoc in the field of psychology / communication studies / media studies to join the IRTIS research team at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University in Brno.
IRTIS, Interdisciplinary Research Team on Internet and Society (https://irtis.muni.cz) is an internationally renowned research group that examines the impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) on individuals and groups. We put a strong emphasis on international and interdisciplinary collaboration and pursue research of the highest quality.
We are looking for a new colleague for the "DigiWELL - Excellence in Research on Digital Technologies and Wellbeing" project (project duration: 2024 - 2028). DigiWELL is a flagship project of IRTIS that aims to understand the science behind digital well-being. Within the project, we study short- and long-term impacts of the use of digital technologies on the well-being of the general population, using state-of-the-art methods (e.g., longitudinal panels with multiple time points, ecological momentary assessment studies, eye tracking).
YOUR JOB WILL BE TO:
- Develop theories, research questions and hypotheses for understanding how digital media use impacts well-being;
- Examine the selected research questions and hypotheses by developing methodological research designs and performing data analysis (with an emphasis on more advanced methods, e.g. longitudinal data analysis, structural models, intensive longitudinal data analysis);
- Participate and collaborate in the publication process (both in the role of leading author and co-author of other team members' publications; e.g., peer-reviewed journal articles; research reports);
- Participate in international meetings and conferences;
- The position does not require teaching; however, it can be arranged in case of your interest.

- Have a possibility to extend your employment: from two-three years (depending on mutual satisfaction) and potentially longer in case of further funding acquisition;
- Receive six weeks paid leave (30 working days) at full-time employment;
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in psychology, communication or media studies, or another social science discipline relevant to the study of the impact of technology on individuals and society (within 7 years of obtaining a doctoral degree) - EU Research level R2;
- You may apply for the position even if you do not receive your PhD until spring 2025;
- Interest in the field of ICT’s impact, research experience on this or a related topic (e.g., research projects, publications);
- Experience with quantitative research projects and excellent knowledge of quantitative methodology, including statistical analysis of quantitative data;
- Interest in deepening your knowledge and skills ;
- Ability to work independently on a selected research topic;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Ability to solve problems effectively, good time-management, tenacity, responsibility, thoroughness;
- High English proficiency (at a level that allows you to publish scientific texts in English) - min. B2.
