Objectives of the program
The aim of the doctoral degree program is to prepare specialized professionals with a focus on the theory of art education and its overlap with other disciplines. The basis is creating the theoretical background of the field, scientific research and extension of professional competencies towards the theory and practice of art and gallery pedagogy.
An important part is the enhancement of knowledge in related scientific fields (e.g. history and theory of art, philosophy and psychology of art), which define the historical and philosophical dimensions of art education. The main areas of interest are artistic creativity, artistic perception, interpretation of art, mediation of art, creation as a form of psychosocial therapy.
Graduates acquire profile competencies for the theoretical transformation of the contents of art culture to create a framework for further scientific research, publications and employment in tertiary education, in galleries and other special institutions.
Practical training
There are several levels of practice during the program and after graduation. In addition to teaching activities in the form of lecturing at the home department and teaching at secondary and other schools, students and graduates participate in research work within grant projects and cooperate with other universities and galleries. They also participate at scholarships abroad and in the Czech Republic, at creative workshops, at conferences and at professional and art symposia.
