What will you learn?

The Bachelor's degree in French Language for Commercial Practice is run as a double-subject course (part of the Philology study programme at the Faculty of Education), based on the system of combinations of fields at different faculties at Masaryk University. Students combine it with Economics (part of the Public Economics and Administration study programme) based at the Faculty of Economics and Administration. The main objective of this course is to prepare the graduates' linguistic, professional, communication and cultural skills for future employment in the economic and administrative environment.

The combined structure of this course takes advantage of the complementary educational system offered by the whole university and, as such, results in a number of positives such as, for example:

  • a modular structure (study programmes and courses are comprised of subject specific modules - linguistic, culturally historical and geographical, practical both in terms of communication and specialisation)
  • system structure (optimal organic combination of a subject within a module as well as complete modules)
  • variability (wide range of subjects, modules, etc.)

“Language and culture: the gateway to the world.”

Practical training

Practical Training

Practical training is not currently an obligatory part of the study plan. The students can gain experience in private sector and public administration thanks to the subject Practical internship which they can sign in for repeatedly.

Career opportunities

The graduates are not authorised to practise a legally regulated professional position. However, the graduates can work as expert language officers with specialized foreign language communication skills, mainly in the spheres of public administration or in business sector. The combination of these two specializations (French Language for Commercial Practice and Public administration) equips students with solid foundations in both theoretical and applied economics as well as in French used in specialized economic and administrative spheres. They are able to use and further develop their expertise in the labour market. Their language skills and professional competences (language and specialized competence) combined with economic and administrative knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills also improve their chances of gaining employment in international institutions. With this background, the graduates can contribute to the cultivation and development of the international economy and administrative co-operation.
