Linking and application of GIS and GPS technologies in thematic mapping of landscape

The main aim of the project is completing of methodology for using of GPS (Global Position Systems) techniques in thematic mapping of landscape and its linking and processing in geographical information systems (GIS). Complex realization of the aim requi res solving of following additional goals: (i) completing of methodology for creating digital geomorphological maps (incl. conversion of traditional geomorphological maps into digital form), (ii) creating universal legend of digital maps, (iii) linking G IS and GPS technologies for thematic mapping (incl. data models, user interface), (iiii) verification of functionality of new approach and created maps in GIS. The primary benefit of the project is an extention of theoretical and methodological platforms for thematic mapping. It will bring new fundamental knowledge and experience in collaboration of various scientific disciplines.
