The proposed project of the Czech Dictionary of Musicians and Musical Institutions (CDMMI) follows the tradition of specialised lexicographical works on the music culture of the Czech lands. Its aim is to record the music scene again after forty years si nce the last work of this type was published. CMDPI will bring in several editorial stages cca 16.000 entries dealing with all relevant subjects, which represent the past and the present of music culture in the Czech lands. Considering the contemporary s tate of knowledge, the project will be a long-term one, with the supposed completion in 10 or 12 years. The proposed grant project is to support the first stage. This stage should cover elaboration of complete list of entries (however more entries may be added), instructions for writing entries within each category (division into 4 categories is supposed), a file of example entries and a file of aprox. 3.000 entries which will be selected according to the stage of elaboration.
