The project aimed at connection of other universities and their faculties and some other important school workplaces. These are localities with the highest network loading, use of performant computer technology into this network, technical possibilities, accessibility of the locality and connection to core network considering workplace´s requests. An other goal of the project was using and testing of technology which enables utilisation of transfer speeds 100 and more Mbit/s.

Results

The main benefit of the project was an important extension of existing metropolitan optical computer network, creation of reserve connections and in the same time use of modern world technology into this network. ATM technology caused easier access to computer capacities and became a base for progressive implementation of new applications such as multimedia, image transfers, process visualizations etc.
