The aim of the proposal is to investigate the possibility of employing the low-temperature plasma generated at atmospheric pressure for the formation of nano-films and nano-coating of the surface of textile fibers. Plasma will be generated using novel unique plasma sources with a high potential of being applicable in the textile industry. Special attention will be given to understanding the plasma activation of nano-layers at fibres surface, interaction of such plasma activated surfaces with nano-particles and to the methods of formation of nano-films without the use of organic solvents or other environmentally problematic chemicals. The chief goal of surface nano-modifications is to provide means for obtaining novel valuable properties of textile materials, applicable for instance in the workplace safety and environmental protection areas.
