The goal of the proposed project is to create a database of human skeletal remains uncovered by archaeological researches in the Moravian and Silesian regions. Human skeletal remain finds data is currently scattered across many publications and the skeletal material itself is deposited in many museums. This situation makes it significantly more difficult to expertly and scientifically explore this source fund which can yield important knowledge about biological and socio-cultural history of the Czech region. This project will result in an internet database comprising quantitative and qualitative characteristics of archeological contexts. Information about finds localization (locality, former district, region, site specification), age determination, deposition and human skeletal remains characteristics (conservation status, number of individuals estimate and so on) and literary sources will form an integrative part. The database will be available on a website for use by the Czech and foreign researchers, students and institutions in charge of monument preservation and registration.
