The aim of this cooperation project is to investigate and develop the potential of areal atmospheric pressure plasmas for applications at glass surfaces, like homogeneous cleaning prior to coating steps, adhesion improvements of paintings and in safety glasses or reduction of chemical waste due to the plasma process in comparison to chemical cleaning. Plasma systems with higher dimensions and different working principles will be used, like plasma jets, volume dielectric barrier discharges or surface barrier discharges. Therefore, a consortia was arranged based in two countries, Germany and Czech Republic, consisting of companies in the field of glass processing and the development of plasma devices as well as two research organisations with expertise on plasma technology at ambient conditions or coating techniques in general. In the end, the plasma solutions found will be applied and evaluated on glasses of the contributing glass company and their glass processing lines.
