The main aim of the project is to encourage EU mobility for Deaf, deaf, and severely hard of hearing higher education students in the participating countries. Academic and career mobility plays a crucial role in students’ academic success and their consequent career opportunities. For this they need to learn to communicate in English and /or in American International Sign Language, which necessitates the development of methods and materials created specifically for these groups. To achieve its aims, this project combines a wide range of tools and makes use of the expertise of the individual partners.
The main outputs and activities of the project are:
- a questionnaire survey and case study research into language learning and usage of the Deaf, deaf, and hard of hearing
- a set of practical materials for teachers of English for the target groups
- an online course of written English for Deaf, deaf, and hard of hearing higher education students
- an online course in communication in ASL
- creation and realisation (2 runs) of a summer university for Deaf, deaf, and hard of hearing higher education students
- meetings of teachers of English as a foreign language for Deaf, deaf, and hard of hearing students
