The inquisition was one of the key institutions of medieval and early modern Europe. Its efficiency was due not only to its legal innovations, but also to concepts and technologies of power that are less easy to grasp. In last 10-20 years, scholars pay more attention to these concepts and technologies. The project will follow this direction and focus on the problem of inquisitional concepts, classifications and identities and their legacy in the European scholarly tradition. This inquiry aims not only to understand more precisely the inquisitional discourse, but also to formulate some questions of theory and method of scientific research, which makes use of many inquisitional concepts and classifications and transforms inquisitional identities into ?voices? that are thought to mediate authentic beliefs and behavior of the deponents. Tangible results of the project will be two Czech and two English/French papers, a monograph for Argo publishing house (Prague), presentations at Czech and international conferences and creation of one new course.
