The project presents interdisciplinary research into the social and technological aspects of interactions between older people and the “Pepper” robot. The possibilities of using the robot to motivate seniors in community centres to become more active are explored, with a focus on active aging and a range of activities, such as education and socialization. The project will bring new applied knowledge, as, so far, the focus has been on the issue of care for the elderly rather than on the agentic social actor of higher age. A further focus on the gender aspect of the interaction brings added value. The project will bring key knowledge on overcoming technological exclusion and the lack of technological socialization, which are important barriers to the acceptance of technology-supported care.
