The substance of the project is an analysis of the contemporary paramilitary activities in the Czech Republic in
the context of transnational development trends of political violence in Europe. Historical roots of
paramilitarism, current paramilitary tendencies and units (relation to strategy of political subjects, capability,
declared goals and real activity, symbols etc.), legal aspects of paramilitary activities, political measures
against paramilitarisim and impact of paramilitary activities on security of the Czech Republic in European
context are analyzed. All issues are compared with similar issues in European countries (mostly Central
Eurpean countries). The methodological approaches are security analysis (including risk and threat analysis),
theory of extremism, approach of the policy-analysis, law analysis, knowledge of military science and concepts
of transnationalization and Europeanization.
