Cultural Transfer and Entangled Histories of the Tibeto-Mongols at the Sino-Tibetan Borderlands

The project will examine the transgenerational interactions between significant cultural agents along the Sino-Tibetan borderlands that exemplify the trans-border processes of tradition-making, as well as contributing to a critical reflection on basic concepts of cultural and intellectual history of the Sino-Tibetan borderlands, where people of different ethnicities and cultures coexist. The goal is to re-establish “connected histories” in order to question the compartmentalization between the respective historiographies, national histories and cultural areas, as well as to shed light on interconnections.
