Recent methods for in vitro differentiation of lung organoids do not sufficiently support generation of complex nature of lung epithelium. Goal of this project is to develop and optimize a method of vascularization of hydrogels carrying lung organoids. 3D bioprinting will be then used to control the interaction of lung epithelium with vasculature, spatially and temporally. Such tissue models will be valuable tool for 3D cell culture methods, and eventually for disease modelling and drug testing.
