How can special anthropomorphic agents (SAA) become real for believers? While the cognitive science of religion attempts to solve this question by looking at what is in our minds, the innate cognitive processes alone cannot explain the SAA experiences without considering the influence of culture. The presented project will experimentally induce a specific experience of the unpleasant sensed presence of SAA to disentangle the intertwined relationship between cognition and culture.
