This project aims to describe the ultra-fast development of optical emission in nanosecond argon plasmas. Recently, these plasmas are described in detail only by complex computer simulations. However, a direct confrontation of these simulations with experimental reality is missing. Using the sub-nanosecond optical emission spectroscopy, the development of relative concentrations of radiative states will be obtained and confronted with the theoretical results for the first time.
