The main aim of this project is to explain how judges decide which interpretation method to use, which interpretive method to 'prefer'. This project has the ambition to deepen our understanding in this regard. It will use and connect analytic philosophy, cognitive science and legal theory in the faith that this may lead to the best possible understanding of the answer to the very fundamental question posed by legal theory and practice.
