Stroke is the second leading cause of death. Recent research is focused on introducing advanced contrast agents to visualize the position of vessel occlusion. A 3D pathophysiological-relevant in vitro model of ischemic stroke will test these agents for detecting occlusions. 3D printing will be used to provide the possibility of rapid prototyping. Transparent materials and hydrogels will be used for the in vitro vascular models. A luminal surface modification will enhance occlusion under flow.
