The project is based on selected metabolic processes of Thiobacillus ferrooxidans in relation to ecotoxicology of sulfide wastes at Zlaté hory (Czech Republic). Pyrite is a dominant component of those wastes. New ways of detection of biooxidation of pyri te, sulfur and thiosulfate in a local isolate T. ferooxidans will be studied - the processes related to water acidification and metal migration in sulfide wastes.
